Tour Itinerary

Friday, December 6

Saturday, 7 December

Arrive Keflavik and exit customs and find the Iceland Excursions transfer shuttle. Transfer into the city. Rest, relax and enjoy the afternoon on your own. This evening we will be picked up at 7:30 pm to depart on our Northern Lights excursion.

Any time from the onset of autumn darkness until the light nights of spring you can witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays. Far from the glow of the city lights, hunt for the elusive Aurora Borealis – known as the Northern Lights. You will search for these magnificent auroras. On a clear night, you may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the sky in dramatic shapes, colors, patterns and sizes.

The Northern Lights are visible from September through April but can only be seen on a clear night. Therefore, the tour company reserves the right to cancel this tour if the evening sky is heavily clouded or weather conditions are not favorable. A decision is taken daily at 6 pm whether the tour will take place or not. Before you start this tour the tour companies always check the weather forecast around the southwestern part of Iceland. From experience, they decide where each journey will lead you, for the best possibilities to see the Northern Lights.
Please note: They cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated.

Return to hotel at approximately 3-5 hours later.

Golden Circle and Fontana Steam Bath Excursion B.
The tour begins at 9 am but please be ready in the hotel lobby for pick up around 8:30 or a bit before. Tour is approximately 9 hours in length. This new tour which combines history, natural phenomena and relaxation.

Visit three of Iceland’s most famous places – Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area and Þingvellir National Park. Also, make a stop in Laugarvatn, a small village that sits on the banks of a lake by the same name. The town is famous for its natural sauna, built above a real live hot spring. The original sauna was built in the 1920’s and was little more than a shack with two compartments, built above the hot spring that bubbles and gurgles below your feet. Today, however, it takes pride of place in the über-modern Fontana Laugarvatn, and is complemented by a dry sauna plus hot tubs of varying temperatures and descriptions. A visit to this amazing natural sauna is something that all visitors to Iceland should get to experience. Afterwards you will be escorted to a country gallery where you are welcomed by hot spring baked rye bread with smoked local trout.

Included in this tour are bus fare, guidance, and admission to the Geysir multimedia show, light refreshments & admission to the steam bath.
