Sail Thailand the "land of smiles"

Various Dates between
Decemember 22, 2008 - March 19, 2009

Our sailing adventure itinerary is varied - from the bright-lights-and-party-nights spots on Phuket, to fun little beach hangouts in Krabi & Phi Phi... then there are the plethora of little islands to the south; pristine beaches and spectacular anchorages which are ours alone for the night. Beach barbies... sipping pina coladas (WINE if we can find it or bring it) whilst lounging on the water's edge at sunset - it's a tough life, but someone has to do it!

We will be sailing on a fast aussie-built Imp 55 catamaran; fast, comfortable, tons of space and all the toys! Dive compressor, kayaks, aircon, icemaker... and in the tradition of all our Thai trips, of course comes with our own Thai cook onboard! She has 4 huge double cabins (both dbl beds and singles), crew cabins in addition. There is no additional cost for kayaks or scuba diving (for our qualified divers)... for newbies, we'll even do an introductory "taster-dive"!

Thailand's wine industry is almost non-existent but growing. The market for wine in Thailand saw significant growth between 1998-2003, growing at an average annual rate of 9%. There is wine produced in Thailand and one winery called Siam Winery is situated near Samut Sakorn, 30 miles southwest of Bangkok, in the viticulture area known as the “floating vineyards". They have launched their premium cuvee Monsoon Valley and created a different style of wine, a new style of wine, a blend of Thai varietal, especially created to complement spicy Thai food. With the worldwide popularity of Thai cuisine it was first launched overseas and exported to Germany, UK. Holland, France, Japan and the United States. But why overseas first? It’s easier and cheaper to launch the wine in these markets, than it is in Thailand with its incredibly high wine tax in the region of 400%.

To add a twist of WINE on this trip each person will be asked to bring a bottle of their favorite wine and we will have our own wine party on the boat. Along with some local wine that we can find.
